A Virtual Workshop

led by Samantha Okumura

500 RYT, 200 E-RYT

At Solstice Yoga, we believe that a deep understanding of the human body is vital for a truly insightful yoga practice and teaching experience. Our comprehensive course, Anatomy and Physiology 101 for Yoga Teachers, is designed to give aspiring yoga teachers and dedicated practitioners the foundation they need to enhance their yoga journey.

This course goes beyond the basics, delving into the complex world of human anatomy and biomechanics, and how these elements intertwine with yoga. Starting with an understanding of the anatomical position and directionality, we explore the various body systems, giving you a well-rounded appreciation for the human body as a whole.

The main thrust of the course is muscles, joints, body movement and positioning. We place a special emphasis on the biomechanics of asana, providing you with the knowledge you need to guide students through postures safely and effectively. By studying the intricacies of how muscles and joints work together during yoga practice, you'll gain a profound understanding of the body's dynamics, enabling you to help students deepen their practice while maintaining a biomechanically sound movement.

This course is a required part of our 200-hour yoga teacher training program, and we believe it's an invaluable component. By the end of the course, you'll be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to teach yoga that is anatomically aware, safe, and empowering for all your future students.
