Samantha Okumura is a seasoned yoga teacher who has been sharing her passion for the practice with students for over nine years. She believes that yoga is a powerful tool for healing physical and emotional trauma, and her classes focus on intelligent sequencing, alignment, and the subtle aspects of the practice to help students build a sustainable and strong self-care practice.

Samantha is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Physiology. After college, she started an internship working with spinal cord injuries, where she discovered her love for working with this population. She combined her personal interests and expertise to become a yoga teacher, completing her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Dragonfly Yoga + Wellness in Livermore, CA.

Samantha has taught vinyasa, hatha, and restorative yoga classes throughout the Bay Area and Las Vegas, specializing in adaptive yoga for neurological injuries and disorders as well as pain management. She has over 7,500 hours of hands-on experience as a NeuroRecovery Specialist and over 2,500 hours of experience teaching Adaptive Yoga.

In 2017, Samantha founded OKU yoga LLC, which is now operating as Solstice Yoga School. She is currently the Director of Operations and Co-Owner of the school. She also serves as a Private Adaptive Yoga Instructor and Teacher Trainer for the school. Samantha's specialties include adaptive yoga for spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, and stroke, as well as hatha, vinyasa, and restorative yoga.

Samantha's approach to teaching is fluid but based in anatomy, with a focus on allowing things to flow naturally and lead into the next step. Her students know her for her creative sequencing and grounding meditations and practices, and she has a reputation for her expertise in restorative yoga.

To complement her yoga teaching, Samantha also holds certifications as an ACE Personal Trainer and ACE MediCupping practitioner. When she's not teaching or practicing yoga, she enjoys spending time in nature, reading fiction, and crafting and painting.

Overall, Samantha Okumura's journey as a yoga teacher is rooted in her personal experiences and her love for anatomy and physiology. She has dedicated her career to sharing the healing benefits of yoga with others, and she continues to inspire and guide her students on their own paths towards self-discovery and healing.
