Chai Spiced Snickerdoodle Cookies


Ingredients:

For the cookie dough:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour or sub gluten free 1:1 flour

  • 3/4 cup sugar

  • 1 1/4 tsp cream of tartar

  • 1/2 tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 tbsp molasses

  • 1 egg, room temp or sub flax egg

For the Chai Spiced Sugar:

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 3/4 tsp ground ginger

  • 1/2 tsp ground cardamom

  • 1/2 tsp ground allspice


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Mix cream of tartar, baking soda, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, & cloves until combined. Mix in flour.

  3. Blend wet ingredients separately. Mix molasses, melted butter, & egg. Add sugar and mix well.

  4. Add wet ingredients to dry. Dough should be crumbly and dry.

  5. In a separate bowl, mix all the ingredients for the chai spiced sugar. Adjust spices to taste.

  6. Roll dough into 12 balls, then roll balls in sugar until coated thoroughly.

  7. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Space cookies evenly on both sheets.

  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes.

  9. Serve & enjoy!
